Tina HammondWinemaker | Baker | Flyfisherwoman
“I have loved my winemaking life – I’ve been the winemaker at Privé for about 20 years, and have forged some amazing friendships from connections & events with our winery members. But I also love fly fishing. And my grandkids. The Privé website does the heavy lifting for me, by providing members their orders & futures forms for our members-only winery. This frees me up to continue to work on the winemaking, and also catch fish.”
Privé Vineyard is a tiny two acre vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, whose vines produce startlingly amazing Pinot Noir grapes. Other wines are made from fruit purchased from the Walla Walla Valley in Washington state. Mark has consistently tended the vines to perfection, and Tina has made the fruit into a wine notable for its adherence to a Burgundian technique and its shelf life.
The Privé website was originally crafted to reflect the French flair that Tina has brought to every facet of the winery – from the chandeliers and garden tokens, to the tile roofs on the tasting room and winery/barrel room.
Recently, Privé (French for ‘private’) became a members-only winery, and the website – while wanting certainly to appeal to web visitors – altered its purchase process by enabling members to log in and access their tier-specific price lists. When you find the Privé website, you’re guided to either log in or see the site. Lavender plantings, the architectural French flair, the wines photographed onsite, abound.
